Anzac day today, so the kids had a holiday from school and Troy had a holiday from work. We didn’t do anything remembrance type things though. It was also great-nanas birthday so we went out for lunch with Troy’s family to celebrate that. It was good, the food was delicious and there was a good playroom there for the kids so they all had a great time playing with their cousins.

We didn’t get back to quite late in the afternoon, I did some more painting (second coat done on four kitchen ceiling sections, four more to go) and the kids and Troy played on the computer and the Wii. And shouted a lot…why are my children so noisy?

Jericho is getting the grommets in his ears tomorrow. It’s such a minor thing and I know he’ll be fine, but it’s still worrying to know I’m going to have to take him to hospital tomorrow and let them take care of him. He is scared, but coping with the idea okay. He really has grown up a lot recently.

Nicholai and Emma said that I could share their poems on my journal. They seemed quite pleased at showing off their masterpieces, ha ha.

The Big Bang, by Emma.
The Big Bang was an explosion,
It was nowhere near slow motion.
The whole universe was created,
While our earth just sat and waited.
It all happened there and then.

The Big Bang: a collection of haiku poems by Nicholai.
The Big Bang happened
Around thirteen point seven
Billion years ago.

The Big Bang was when
The universe was made, and
Life was created.

The beginning point,
That picofemtosecond*,
It was very hot.

That first point had this:
An infinite temperature
In a zero-size space.

One femtosecond,
In which the universe grew
Nine hundred metres.

In one small year,
Nine trillion kms was
How much size space gained.

Since the creation,
Seven septillion stars are
Made in space’s vacuum.

*a picofemtosecond is equal to around 0.000000000000000000000000001 seconds.
