Project 365-2015: Day 160 – Rail Trail
I took this one today while walking on the Warburton trail, near Woori Yallock. I love this photo because the bridge looks really long, and because the shadows from the railings looks so perfectly like the train tracks that this trail used to be.
Project 365-2015: Day 159 – Up!
Luna showing off her tricks today. She can sit, shake, get up and dance about on her hind legs, drop (although this one is her least favourite) and roll over. She’s quite smart and picked all these up quickly, so I probably should have done more with her. But she’s just so cute when she’s dancing or rolling over I just like to watch her do that and laugh!
Project 365-2015: Day 158 – At the Beach.
Project 365-2015: Day 157 – At the Museum
I took this one at the museum today. Most of my other photos had my kids being goofy in them, but I really liked the shapes and lines of this display in this one.
Project 365-2015: Day 156 – Through the Lens.
Emma, Jericho and Soren beginning work on the Lego animation they’re planning, photographing Mr and Mrs Generic and their delightful family.
Project 365-2015: day 155 – Going Home
I don’t usually have to drive home in traffic, after dark. Mostly I just drive home with the children after school and don’t leave the house after 4pm. However on Thursdays Emma has her CHAMPS group and so I pick her up fifteen minutes early from school and we drive to where her group meets. Now that it’s winter it’s full dark when she’s finished, and always seems to be raining- hence tonight’s photo, which I took on my phone while we were stopped at the lights.
Project 365-2015: Day 154 – Sovereign Hill Deliciousness
What else would you buy at Sovereign Hill but some beautiful, delicious red raspberry lollies? Jericho is carrying on the family love of them and came home from school camp with a jar to share, bless him. He also bought some acid drops, red mushroom lollipops (not as good as the raspberry lollies) and a walking stick. He was happy with his purchases but disappointed with his inability to afford a top hat and pocket watch to go along with his walking stick. Still, it’s apparently pretty good to dance with, ha ha ha!
Project 365-2015: Day 153 – Woori Yallock Creek.
We passed the halfway point on the Warburton rail trail today! 20km behind us, and 20km to go. Our stopping place today was at the Woori Yallock creek, and I took this photo from the bridge there. I took it on my phone too- regrettably I hadn’t taken my proper camera but I kept seeing beautiful photo opportunities everywhere!
Project 365-2015: Day 152 – Happy Birthday Luna!
My puppy is two years old today. Unfortunately this birthday photo has caught her with really unflattering growing out fur, but I assure you she is adorable! She is also vaguely reminiscent of the luck dragon from The Neverending Story with that head shape and enormous ears! She’s even got the little sticky up bit of hair on the top of her head.
Project 365-2015: Day 151 – 50 Games
Nicholai played his 50th football game today. We had a banner and invited everyone to come and have some afternoon tea and watch him, because we wanted it to be a celebration. Not just of football though. There’s so much more to this than just a game, and my heart doesn’t even feel big enough to hold it all.
It’s just that I never knew that he would be able to do this. The toddler who went from ‘quirky’ to ‘something’s not right’. The pre-schooler who once looked at me telling him off for hitting his sister and asked “Are you happy, or sad?” The pre-schooler who used to begin conversations with everyone (including longtime friends and family) with “Hi, I’m Nicholai!” because that was the only conversational opener he knew. That schoolboy who was so hypercompetitive that losing was devastating. That Asperger brain that made some things so easy and other things so hard.
And then I look at him now. 50 games, and I’m so proud. He has made a place for himself at the footy club, and they really see him. They gave him his nickname, they gave him the number 1 jumper, they gave him the opportunity to be the one representing the whole club at the AFL launch, and they gave him all these things because he earned them. Earned them with hard work and dedication and persistence…earned them just by being who he is, and doing his thing in his own inimitable Nicholai way.
And all of that is why today was about so much more than football for me. Nicholai, Little Bear, Stats…you go out there and take on the world.
Project 365-2015: Day 150 – Sister Sleepover.
My sisters, my mum, my sister in law and my nephew, all hanging out to craft and eat and have some fun catching up at our sleepover.
Project 365-2015: Day 149 – Happy Friday!
Soren, Jericho and Emma enjoying their Friday privilege of playing on the computer! I’ve got to say that they’re a lot bigger on that seat than they used to be- once upon a time we had four of them sitting squished on it together.
Project 365-2015: Day 148 – Going Home
I took this one on my phone when Emma and I were walking back to the car this evening. It’s funny how dark it is when we go home after her group these days…I guess winter is only a couple of days away.
Project 365-2015: Day 147 – Cactus Curves.
I was looking at this cactus today because it’s starting growing fur in between all the spikes. But what I really loved when i looked at it from directly above was the way all the lines of the segments kind of make it look like an optical illusion with curves outlining leaf shapes.
Project 365-2015: Day 146 – Hello.
Walking the Warburton Trail again today, and I saw this curious thing watching us from beside the track. Brown and white patches is my favourite kind of horse.
Project 365-2015: Day 145 – Climbing the Reading Rainbow.
Soren doing his reading practise this afternoon. He got his certificate for reading for 50 nights, and now we’re trudging along towards 75 nights…yeah, I know, I’m a terrible reading mother!
Project 365-2105: Day 144 – Say Cheese (Monster Flower #2)
This is the second monster flower bloom, just starting to open up. It really looks like you could lose a finger in there if you weren’t careful.
Project 365-2015: Day 143 – Enjoying the Sun.
Nemesis, taking a moment out of his busy sunbathing schedule to yawn. It’s a hard life that cat leads.
Project 365-2015: Day 142 – Pretty in Pink.
I just loved how pretty this flower is, with the dark pink edging to the slightly yellowed petals. I also love the occasional bead of water on the petals, as it was still drying out from the overnight dew when I took the photo.
Project 365-2015: Day 141 – Monster Flower.
This flower is amazing. It’s also kind of terrifying. A few days ago we noticed a couple of enormous flower buds growing on one of my succulents in the zen garden, and now there’s this huge flower. If it was stretched out, instead of having the petals curled back into itself, it would be about the size of the palm of my hand, and it honestly looks like it could just snap shut on you and eat something. It’s awesome.
