Project 365-2015: Day 100 – Walking the Dog. We took Luna down to the ponds this morning. It was the perfect autumn day to be outside and enjoying a bit of sunshine. I love the colours in this picture , and the way Jericho is caught mid-stride and is in the air.
And it’s day 100 and I haven’t missed any- yay!
Project 365-2015: Day 099 – Autumn Afternoon.
I took this on my phone on the way home from the doctor today. All the trees on this street are starting to change colour and shed their leaves and it looked lovely in the sunshine.
Project 365-2015: Day 098 – Raindrops in the Sun.
Project 365-2015: Day 097 – Luna Kisses.
Luna giving the Ootchy cat some love, and Ootchy Mootchy tolerating it!
Project 365-2015: Day 096 – Mount Doom.
Or not. Mount Sturgeon actually, but looking a lot more mysterious and menacing with the top of it hidden in the clouds.
Project 365-2015: Day 095 – Happy Easter!
Project 365-2015: Day 094 – Grevillea
This is growing on a big shrub in Mum and Dad’s backyard, and is a species of grevillea. A nice one too- less spikes than the little grevillea I have planted at home! I love the flowers on it, the way they seem to just explode outwards and have such good colours.
Project 365-2015: Day 093 – If you lived here, you’d be home now.
The kids hanging out under the Glenthompson sign when we took a break on our drive to Mum and Dad’s place. This is the town that my family lived in- if only mum and dad hadn’t moved, we would have been there at this point!
Project 365-2015: Day 091 – Taking Flight.
The lorikeets came back this evening. Beautiful sky behind them, beautiful light shining on them, nice new camera lens to use to photograph them…and stupid dog who wouldn’t stop barking at them and then trying to shake them from the tree!
I love this photo though. It’s so interesting to see how the body has twisted to the side while the bird raises its wings, and its feet are still on the branch. And the colour of them of course…they’re beautiful birds.
Project 365-2015: Day 091 – Concentration.
Emma and Jericho playing a game of chess with fierce concentration, as Soren supervises. And Nicholai loiters in the background.
Project 365-2015: Day 090 – Walking the Warburton Trail.
Jean, the children and Luna all walking along the Warburton trail this morning. Jean and I have been doing it in segments on Tuesdays, so we thought we’d take the kids along today. Once the children got over the fact that we were not walking TO anything (“What do you mean, we just walk for a while and then turn around and walk back???”) they actually enjoyed themselves, and it was a nice sort of laid-back outside activity for us all.
Project 365-2015: Day 089 – Ecao Candle.
I finally put my mantlepiece back together today. Only four months since I took everything off it to put up my nativity sets for Christmas! I took the nativity sets down at the end of December, but the mantlepiece has pretty much stayed empty except for birthday cards since then. But today I pulled Rama and Sita and the photo frames and the Korean marriage ducks and the silver Balinese elephant and the candle plate out from under my desk and put them all back. This candle is one I was given by Emma and her friends, with a thank you letter for being a supporter of their candle business (ie, I bought them wax, lol). It’s such a girly girl candle though- it’s pink, purple, smells like flowers, and has glitter on it. I love it.
Project 365-2015: Day 088 – Pedro
My beautiful old-man dog, Pedro. We got him when he was four months old (the same age as baby Nicholai was at the time- what were we thinking???) and he’s thirteen years old now. He doesn’t see or hear so well and is awfully wobbly on his legs, but he’s still a sweetheart. I don’t know how much longer we’ll have him to be honest, and I’m going to be very sad to say goodbye.
Project 365-2015: Day 087 – Smiling Wasp.
There have been so many wasps about this summer. I used to be scared of them, but since they have been absolutely everywhere I go all summer I’ve got over that a bit. We can’t find a nest anywhere (although it could be under the house) but there are always lots of wasps buzzing around this bush that grows beside our back steps. I haven’t been able to take photos of them before because they fly very fast, but today was cold and that slowed them right down so I got these ones today. This one was my favourite- the wasp was cleaning its antennae with its front legs, and the markings look like a cute little smiley face.
Project 365-2015: Day 086 – Pipsqueak.
I thought this pretty baby (who belongs to my in-laws’ neighbours) could be my photo for today. She was born on the 12th of December and we saw her when she was only a day old and still figuring out how to stand up and lie down! She’s getting a lot bigger now, but she still has those beautiful gangly foal legs and the funniest curly mane. She’s also very curious and bold, which made getting a photo difficult as she kept coming up so close to say hello that I couldn’t get her in the frame.
Project 365-2015: Day 085 – Ootchy Mootchy
It’s the Ootchy cat today, with his lovely green eyes and long white whiskers. He’s looking unusually alert here, most of his time inside is spent asleep on our bed, or imperiously banging his paw against the door to let us know he’d like to be let out.
Project 365-2015: Day 084 – Dandelion.
Dandelions are so perfect. I know they’re weeds but when I look at them closely and see each little section being so beautiful and perfect on their own and then adding up to something so pretty, I don’t want to get rid of them. My backyard really stands testament to my liking for them at the moment! Either that or our non-existent lawn care routine. Either one.
Project 365-2015: Day 083 – Entrepreneurial.
The culmination of Emma’s ‘Business Maths’ unit of study was their stall at today’s “Twilight Market”. The three girls had to decide what they wanted to make and sell, work out what they needed and cost it all, make their product, create a business name and how to present their product on a market stall, and then sell and make change on the market day. They named their Ecao Candles and they honest did a really great job with it all.
Project 365-2015: Day 082 – The Brain.
This is my favourite cactus out of the little group I have on the study windowsill. It’s called the Brain cactus because of the way it grows in twists and folds. I love the way it looks, especially when I water it and all the curves hold water drops like shiny little eggs in a nest.
Project 365-2015: Day 081 – Yarn Blossom.
I’m making crocheted flowers to go on my tree sweaters now. This was my favourite – I love the colours and the layers and frilliness of it. I love the way the variegated yarn works in crocheted flowers too- normally I love it in the ball but hate it knitted/crocheted up, so it surprised me how lovely it looks here.
