Days 161-180

Project 365-2015: Day 180 – A Winter Drive
Driving up to my parents’ house on the winter school holidays often looks a bit like this- grey sky and mountains with their tops shrouded in fog.

Project 365-2015: Day 179 – Zen Gardening.
We still have the little heap of stones and shells near the plants out by the front door, and I will still sit out there and arrange them when I need a moment of fresh air, sunshine and quiet. There was no sunshine today, but the air was certainly fresh while I built this little rock tower.

Project 365-2015: Day 178 – Timekeeping.
Soren, using my phone as a stopwatch to time everything happening at hockey.

Project 365-2015: Day 177 – Avast, me hearties!
My favourite Lego pirate from the set Troy had when he was little, which Jericho and Soren were playing with this evening.

Project 365-2015: Day 176 – Good day, Sunshine

Project 365-2015: Day 175 – Scrunch
Luna’s favourite night time sleeping spot (and  for a good portion of the day too, it’s not for nothing that I call her the laziest dog in the world) is Soren’s little armchair. She has to fold herself up to fit in, but she seems very cosy and comfortable all the same.

Project 365-2015: Day 174 – And now, puny human, take me to your leader!
The praying mantis we found in the succulent, taking on the might of Jericho’s army and appearing to take victory.

Project 365-2015: Day 173 – Sour Squirms
I don’t know whether to bless or curse him for it, but Troy brought me home a giant box of these sour worms from Costco the other day and I can’t stop eating them!

Project 365-2015: Day 172 – Yering Farm

Project 365-2015: Day 171 – Hockey Mornings
It felt like the coldest morning of the year sitting there watching the kids play hockey through the fog this morning. Still, as cold as I was it was certainly less so than the children running around in shorts and t-shirts and singlets and shorts!

Project 365-2015: Day 170 – Ootchy Mootchy
Ootchy Mootchy, doing his best to prevent me from putting clean bedding on the bed. This is like a boudoir photo for a cat really- he’s lounging around on a bed, it hides his bald spots, and it makes him look about ten kilograms lighter than he really is.

Project 365-2015: Day 169 – Spikes

Project 365-2015: Day 168 – Peekaboo
I love taking photos of animals and birds but there are many, many, MANY times when they just do not cooperate! Today was one such time. I was photographing the lorikeets in the backyard this morning and they kept hiding behind the leaves. They were finally getting bolder and starting to just do their thing without worrying about me when Pedro came limping over and barked and they all flew away.

Project 365-2015: Day 167 – Melbourne Morning.
A Melbourne Winter Morning…cold, grey and rainy!

Project 365-2015: Day 166 – Yarra River.
Troy and I spent last night in the city, and we ate tea looking out at this…all the lights and the people around makes such a change from home!

Project 365-2015: Day 165 – Go ahead, make my day.
Not the best photo in the world, but it made me laugh and I love it anyway! It’s Soren, pretending to be villainous which apparently requires a sparkly cowboy hat, homemade eye mask, scarf, black leather vest and velvet Harry Potter cape. Not to mention the plastic handcuff around one wrist, where he apparently busted out of jail. I love my Scooby.

Project 365-2015: Day 164 – Hockey day.
Weekend sport is starting to feel like it’s taking over our lives. Two games of hockey on Saturday and football on Sunday…that’s a lot of driving, especially considering our hockey home ground is at least a 45 minute drive. But it’s good for the kids, and it’s impossible to resent it when they enjoy is so much, and I’m sitting outside on a cold, clear morning and thinking that the world looks beautiful.

Project 365-2015: Day 163 – Spiderweb.
This lovely little spiderweb was constructed in the bush outside the front door. It was smaller than my palm and almost completely intact. No sign of the tiny spider who must have made it though!
And I think I need to get my eyes tested, since I am having more and more trouble squinting through the viewfinder and actually seeing how focussed anything is. I swear, if one more thing goes wrong I will give up.

Project 365-2015: Day 162 – Around the Bend

Project 365-2015: Day 161 – Crochet
I wasn’t feeling very inspired today (and I left my camera at home when I went out) so here is a photo of the crochet I was working on during the craft afternoon. I’m making a dress, which I’ve never done before, and it’s the kind of thing that should be easy but so far is very much not! I have had to resort to a lot of counting stitches and then adding in increases and decreases so that my count comes out correctly. Still, it’s something different and hopefully all the little mistakes won’t matter and it will turn out okay in the end. I’ve mainly been knitting so far this year, so going back to crochet has been a lovely change.
