We bought a house today! We made an offer on Copeworth Court early this morning, and after a long day of silence Jess the real estate agent finally rang at about 7 to say that it had been accepted. Yay!
We’re all really happy- it’s a great house and it’s going to be so good for us. The kids are excited to have their own rooms, and just excited for the idea of a change I think. We’ve asked for a 60 day settlement, which will be a couple of weeks before the end of term 2, so that is actually going to be pretty convenient. The kids can finish out the term and then start at their new schools on the first day of term 3.
There’s all the finances to finalise, and then packing and all the other hassles of moving, but we’re really on our way!
As for the rest of today, I HAVE NEVER DONE SO MUCH CLEANING IN MY WHOLE LIFE. Oh my god, it was like a cleaning marathon, we started just after 9 and didn’t stop until after 4 in the afternoon. It was hideous. But my house has never been so clean and beautiful as it was when we were finished! I wanted to buy it myself. I am also so glad that Troy is such a lovely, helpful type, because he was cleaning right alongside. Actually, considering I left for two hours to take Emmanuella to the orthodontist he probably cleaned more than I did. Even the kids cleaned and vacuumed their rooms and picked up the loungeroom. Jericho also decided that polishing furniture was quite fun, and he polished the Lego table and then did some in the kitchen too.
The house inspection was scheduled for 5, so after we’d finished doing the cleaning we drove to the storage place and bought some packing boxes, then went and picked up Emma from her cousins’ house (I’d dropped her off there after her orthodontist appointment so she could play with Charlotte for the afternoon), bought some fish and chips and then came home.
Honestly, after all the cleaning and then the relief of knowing that our offer was accepted and we’re settled on where we’re going to live, I’m exhausted. I don’t think I’m very good at dealing with stress.
Anyway, the inspection of our house went okay. The man is a bricklayer, so he wants a backyard for his trailers and scaffolding and bricks and ours is obviously big enough for that. His partner was hoping for a better kitchen, so I don’t know if that’s going to be a deal breaker for her. They did like it though, and they told Bill the real estate agent that they’d think about it over the Easter weekend and talk to him on Tuesday, so we’ll just have to see. It would be very convenient if they like it enough to pay what we want and we don’t have to worry about keeping our house this clean for any length of time! However the house hasn’t even been advertised, so we won’t accept a low offer at this point. I guess it’s just a matter of waiting now.
Emmanuella got her braces on today. It’s a full set, upper and lower teeth, so my poor girl is pretty uncomfortable tonight. Hopefully it won’t take her long to get used to them.
